Partially Cloudy with a chance of rain... Sunshine this weekend… Expect 6-10 inches as you make your way over the Snoqualmie Pass today… Our weather in all its spontaneity. You never know quite what to expect. As diverse as the culture, cuisine, and scenery. Whether it’s having Salmon on the Seattle waterfront or Pancakes by the Falls of Snoqualmie, you can always find atmosphere. Visit the Experience Music Project in the shadow of the Space Needle, or ride the Ferry to Bainbridge and experience the lush scenery of the Bloedel Reserve. Take a Saturday and simply Kayak the waterfront in Poulsbo. There is no “key destination” in Washington because Washington is the key destination. Washington grows on people… but try not to stare silently at the scenery too long or moss may start to grow on you to!
Washington became a state November 11, 1889 and since has seen radical changes from industries based on forest products and marine services to now enormous strengths as one of the world's largest aerospace manufacturing
groups and one of the premier technology centers in the world for software, electronics, and telecom. Washington has been called home to major companies such as Microsoft, Starbucks, Weyerhaeuser, Amazon.com, Costco, and Nordstrom's. Washington State
is home to the largest concentration of aerospace workers in the world. Over 100,000 skilled workers and more than 600 companies produce over $36 billion in business activity ensuring Washington's continued role as a leader in aerospace innovation. Boeing, who several years ago moved their home office to Chicago still operates in Washington as an aeronautical giant employing over 73,000+ employees in Washington. A large Military influence also shapes Washington with the presence of Fort Lewis Army Base, McChord Air Force Base, Naval Base Kitsap (Bangor and Bremerton Naval Stations), Northwest Regional Maintenance Center (Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Bangor Intermediate Maintenance Facility), Keyport Undersea
Warfare Center, Naval Station Everett, Naval Air Station Whidbey, Fairchild Air Force Base, and the Yakima Training Center employing more than 83,000 military and civilian personnel, creating a statewide total job impact of over 187,000 jobs, and creating a $7.2 Billion dollar impact on our state economy (almost 5%). All that, and they still find time to keep our Country safe. Thank you to all our men and women of the US Armed Forces!
